In numerology, few numbers are considered as important as the Life Path Number. Sometimes described as a spiritual blueprint, your Life Path Number is calculated from your date of birth and reflects your natural strengths, challenges, and the lessons you are here to learn. It is often seen as a key to understanding personality traits, life themes, and the direction your journey may take.

Our Life Path Number Calculator makes it simple to discover your own Life Path Number. By entering your full date of birth, the calculator reduces the digits to a single number or one of the master numbers (11, 22, or 33). Once calculated, you’ll receive an interpretation that explains what your number reveals about your character, approach to challenges, and the patterns that may shape your experiences.

Common Questions About Life Path Numbers

How do I calculate my Life Path Number from my birthdate?
Start by reducing each part of your birthdate to a single digit separately: month, day, and year. Then add those three digits together and reduce again.

For example, if you were born on July 14, 1990: July = 7, the 14th = 1+4 = 5, and 1990 = 1+9+9+0 = 19 = 1+9 = 10 = 1. Add 7+5+1 = 13, then 1+3 = 4.

The exception: if any step produces 11, 22, or 33, don’t reduce further. Those are master numbers and carry their own significance.

What does it mean to have a master number like 11 or 22?
Master numbers (11, 22, and 33) are not reduced to single digits because they carry amplified energy and a higher degree of potential.

An 11 Life Path is associated with heightened intuition, spiritual sensitivity, and a pull toward inspiring or illuminating others. A 22 is sometimes called the Master Builder, someone with the vision to create something lasting and impactful at scale. A 33 carries themes of healing, teaching, and compassionate service.

The tradeoff is that master numbers often come with equal intensity on the shadow side. More pressure, more sensitivity, more internal conflict until the potential is understood and channeled.

Which Life Path Numbers are most compatible in relationships?
Compatibility in numerology isn’t about finding an identical number. It’s about complementary energies.

Numbers that share similar values or pacing tend to flow easily together. 2s and 6s both prioritize connection and harmony, while 1s and 9s often share a drive toward independence and purpose. Numbers that seem opposite, like a grounded 4 and a freedom-loving 5, can work well if both people are self-aware, though friction is more likely.

Rather than a fixed compatibility chart, think of it as a lens for understanding where two people naturally align and where they’ll need to meet each other halfway.

How does my Life Path Number influence my career or purpose?
Your Life Path Number points to the themes and strengths that tend to surface most naturally in your work. Not a specific job title, but an underlying orientation.

A 3 tends to thrive in roles that involve communication, creativity, or bringing people together. A 7 is often drawn to research, depth, and working independently. An 8 is naturally attuned to systems, leadership, and material outcomes.

That said, your Life Path is one piece of a larger picture. Your Expression Number and birth chart placements also shape how your purpose actually shows up in the world.
